Unlike ready-to-wear suits, which are based on an existing pattern, a bespoke suit is drafted entirely from scratch. Measurements are taken with care, accounting for posture and movement, before the suit is crafted using traditional tailoring methods. How do I book a bespoke suit fitting?

Booking a bespoke suit fitting with Houndstooth Tailors is simple. You can start with an initial consultation to discuss your wardrobe needs, budget, and design ideas before moving into measurements and fabric selection.

Fittings can be arranged in our Melbourne studio, or we can come to your home or office if preferred. To get started, book online or contact us directly - our experienced tailors are always happy to guide you through the bespoke process from start to finish.

How long does an appointment take?

For your initial consultation with us, please allow an hour. Fitting appointments generally take between 30-45 minutes.

How long does the whole process take?

The turnaround time for a suit is typically 4–6 weeks from the first consultation to the final fitting. For wedding suits, we recommend allowing 10–12 weeks. This gives plenty of time for the garments to be made, fitted, and finalised, with a few weeks to spare before the big day.

Can I walk in or do I need to make an appointment?

Appointments are highly recommended due to the busy schedule of our tailors, and at times can be on the road seeing clients.

What if my suit needs further alterations?

All alterations within 30 days after delivery will be covered by Houndstooth Tailors.

Do I have to pay for customisations on my suit?

Customisations like embroidery and edge stitching is all included however if you wish to have a custom print lining, we charge an extra $300 (please note that if you wish to have custom print lining, it takes an extra 2 weeks to print and make).

What is your payment policy?

​We require a 50% deposit to secure your order, with the balance due at your final fitting. We accept payments through Zeller or Bank Transfer.​

Need suit measurements taken?

If you are attending a wedding interstate or overseas and require suit measurements, we offer a professional body measurement service. This includes taking the 32 precise measurements required to produce a tailored suit. Should you need any specific or additional measurements, please advise the tailor at your appointment and we will be happy to accommodate.
